Katie Mosher

Katie Mosher, a senior in the Sport Management undergraduate program, has been named a recipient of the ACC’s Weaver-James-Corrigan Award, a postgraduate scholarship awarded to select student-athletes who intend to pursue a graduate degree after graduation.

Mosher was acknowledged for her outstanding performance on the FSU Volleyball team as well as her work in the classroom. On the court, Mosher is a three-year team captain and Florida State’s all-time digs leader. In 2011, she helped Florida State become the first ACC school in history to appear in the Women’s Volleyball National Semifinal.

“Katie was a great role model for our team,” said Chris Poole, head coach of FSU Volleyball.  “She was one of the few players that I have coached that literally came to practice early or stayed late all the time to get in extra reps in order to be the best player she could be. That work ethic helped her to be a great student in our sport management program and she has won many awards for our team on the court and from her academic success.”

Off the court, Mosher is a two-time Golden Nole award winner. In 2014, she was a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award and achieved the Golden Torch honor by turning in the team’s highest GPA for the 2013-14 school year.

“Katie Mosher’s selection as a recipient of this year’s ACC Postgraduate Scholarship is a prime example of the type of effort she gives in all aspects of her life,” said Dr. Jason Pappas, assistant teaching professor and director of Undergraduate Practicum in the Department of Sport Management. “She was one the most dedicated, consentaneous and passionate students I have had the great fortune of teaching.”
