Betsy Becker to receive 2015-2016 Distinguished Research Professor Award

On behalf of Florida State University President John Thrasher, Vice President for Research Gary K. Ostrander, and the Council on Research & Creativity, Dr. Betsy Becker has been selected to receive a Distinguished Research Professor Award for 2015-2016.

The Distinguished Research Professor Awards recognize and reward outstanding career achievements in research and creative activity. Nominated by peers, Becker’s scholarly work was evaluated by a committee of Distinguished Research Professors.

Becker has published widely in the area of meta-analysis and also on psychometric issues in education. Her current research involves methods for synthesizing correlation matrices and regression slopes, and she is also involved in two synthesis projects regarding teacher knowledge and teacher qualifications.

Professor of the Measurement and Statistics program and department chair of the Department of Educational Psychology and Learning Systems, Becker has been on faculty at the FSU College of Education since 2004. Before her time at Florida State, she served as faculty in the Measurement and Quantitative Methods program at Michigan State University.

Becker will be recognized at the Faculty Awards program on April 27th at the Alumni Center.
